O'Reilly Discount Banners for BALUG.org

O'Reilly treats BALUG pretty well with free copies of pretty much any book we want. Does anybody object to helping them out by displaying one of their discount banner ads? Still Need Help for BALIG Tomorrow

Regarding the BALUG dinner tomorrow night, we still need a little bit of help. Jim Stockford has volunteered to MC the event. Is anyone willing to collect the $13 from attendees and coordinate with the restraint? Its $12 to the restaurant and $1 tip to the staff. Lastly, I normally bring the projector, extension cords for power and the 10ft projector screen. Obviously I can't bring this items. Need Help Running Next BALUG Meeting

Found out earlier this evening that my grandfather is having heart surgery on next Tuesday. I won't be able to make the BALUG meeting so I'm hoping that someone else will be able to run the meeting.

Sept Meeting @ 585 Howard

Balug Admin: With the help of Alan Duboff and Steve Lau, we have secured a new location for the September meeting. (As a reminder, the Four Seas cannont host BALUG on 9/16/08) The new location will be at Songbird's office at 585 Howard near 2nd street. The location can hold aprox 75 people. Three questions: 1)Given that the speaker (Ian Murdock) is likely to be quite popular and we have a limited amount of space, should we enforce a mandatory RSVP? 2)Given that we won't have the goodwill from the Four Seas kitchen, I'll probably windup fronting the cash for food. June 24 2008, my lack of attending

I had planned on attendding the june meeting and my wife took off work so we could. I was out of town when Adrew posted speaker problem. I would have felt better having no speaker but meeting on the regular day. I have enjoyed no speaker meetings in the past. I hope meeting is well attended tonight. My health is not as good as has been so I will only attend a few meetings of balug in the future unless my health improves. I do not expect Dick Verna to make many meetings of BALUG. Passing this comment back. I vaguely recall that whichever kind soul is underwriting the hosting of BALUG's presence at Dreamhost (Michael Hubbard?) claimed that it's not possible to configure acceptance of mail at the RFC-mandated postmaster(a)balug.org and abuse(a)balug.org mailboxes, and delivery to somewhere useful.[1] Dave Anderson (below) claims that this is not the case, that the Dreamhost customer merely needs to configure that functionality, to make it happen. It would be greatly to BALUG's advantage, were that to be done. (Hint, hint.) Looks like the Four Seas is not available for September. This may be a bit of a problem because Ian Murdock's schedule seems to be quite tight. Really unfortunate considering two other date changes this year.
